![]() First Nations people have always been a warm and caring people. I was honoured today to share Blanket BC's story of caring and warmth to the Elders at Mission Friendship Centre Society during their monthly luncheon. I spoke with amazing people who shared with me their trials and tribulations along with their successes and overcoming great challenges and obsticles. Most memorable was Mary, who shared with me and the group of how at 17 years of age she was homeless on the streets of Vancouver, back when there were no shelters, no help. Homeless, alone, and frightened, she told me that it was a blanket she relied on to give her warmth and a bit of security. Today, many years later, she escaped the streets and made a life for herself in Mission, where she is now and Elder and leads groups that help others. I would like to thank the Elders of the Mission Friendship Centre Society for welcoming me in such a manner that truly moved me. I look forward to meeting you again very soon! Warmest Regards, Gregory Ould Blanket BC Society
